Belief ~~ Faith
Did you know that the “Greek word ‘Pisteuo (to believe) is most frequent in the writings of the apostle John? It is used 86 times. The definition is: to think to be true, to be persuaded of, to credit, place confidence in (of the thing believed); in a moral or religious reference…to trust in Jesus or God as able to aid either in obtaining or in doing something: saving faith, mere acknowledgment of some fact or event, intellectual faith.” Yes, I have defined this word “believe” in my current Bible Study “The Teacher”. For me, all of this is to get the most out of John’s testimony to Christ and to infuse my soul with what “The Teacher” (Jesus) is teaching me. I just had a conversation with my ”hubby”….to glean from his wisdom. I asked him what (if any) is the difference between belief and faith? He said, “Faith is the expression of my belief. I hear, read and study the words of Christ, and I believe. Faith expresses itself in my life, my lifestyle, my attitudes, how I react to life, etc.”
1 John 3:3 says, “And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” The word hope in the ‘Greek is ‘Elpis. The translated word is faith. One of its meanings is expectation of good or hope; joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation.” If we have hope, this faith in Him, our lives should become different (transformed~~ ~~~~~2 Corinthians 5:17), to BECOME like Christ. Our faith, our hope should change the way we live our lives…..in Christ.
Is that not the coolest thing! Something Beautiful! …..the Wisdom of The Word (and my ‘Hubby’)…..Belief ~~ Faith
