The Teacher: Day 12, part 1

Believe, That You May Have Life In Jesus Name

I really BELIEVE that I am to “Stop, Drop and Listen”, before I proceed to chapter 8.  If you don’t understand what I mean, please refer to Day 17, of “The Disciple” Bible Study. http://butterflybiblestudies.com/the-disciple-day-17/

The first thing I want to do is review my ‘Goals’

1.  To Know the heart of John the Disciple; to absorb and gain insight into the accounts, miracles and images of Jesus

2.  To confirm my Belief that my calling in life is to have relationship with Jesus; to Believe with all my heart that He is exactly who He says He is; to Believe what He says is truth; to Know His love

3.  To have an open mind and heart of the basics of what we call Christianity, with anticipation of renewal for my soul

My Game Plan was….I’ll just throw it out with the wash!   It was to move quickly through a chapter a day.  There are 21 chapters in the Gospel of John.  This, I know now, was an unrealistic goal for me.  Not just because of daily responsibilities or unexpected interruptions, but because there is so much here to process and ponder.  John’s Gospel takes me to the depth of the message of Christ, yet it takes me to the simplicity of the message.  Jesus is constantly revealing Himself to me (us).

Just walk before me Lord…..reveal to me, all that you are and can be in my life……may I truly KNOW Belief and Life in You…Amen!

This is part 1, of Day 12.  Tomorrow, part 2.  I have spent several hours pondering chapters 1-7, trying to hear “The Teacher”.  I will do my best to pen it for you.  First of all, I believe that if you want to learn how to share the gospel message, John’s Gospel is an excellent place to be.  It is so-all about BELIEVING in Christ, who He is and who sent Him.  It could not be laid out more plainly.

The Heart of The Gospel

God’s promise is that ‘whoever believes’ in Christ will be redeemed.  Believe On The Hope Of Salvation. John 3

Verse 15 “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life,”  KJ

Verse 16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  KJ

Verse 17 “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”  KJ

Verse 18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”  KJ

Verse 19 “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”  KJ

Verse 20 “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”  KJ

Verse 21 “But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”  KJ

John, Chapters 1 ~ 7:1-6

John, The Disciple Jesus Loved ~~ His Belief In Jesus

The Disciple John believes that Jesus is The Word, He is everything, without Him there would be nothing, He is life and that life is the light of men, His light shines in the darkness, He is the One who has given us the right to become children of God (if we receive and believe in His name), He came from the Father, He is full of grace and truth and He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

John the Baptist ~~ A Man True To His Calling ~~ Preparing the Way For Jesus ~~ John’s Testimony To Jesus

John the “B” was sent from God. He came as a witness to testify concerning the light (which was Jesus), so that all men might believe.  John the “B” said, “the reason I came baptizing with water was that Jesus might be revealed to Israel.  The one who sent me (God) told me this…the man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.  I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God.”  In John chapter 3 verses 22-36, John again gives testimony about Jesus.  John was content and joyful to do what God sent him into the world to do…to prepare the way for Jesus (John 3:27-30).

Jesus Teaches Through Illustrations That People Can Relate To

Jesus Teaches Nicodemus

You Must Be Born Again:  Jesus teaches Nicodemus about being “Born Again”.  Jesus uses an extremely powerful illustration, that Nicodemus will understand. See Day 7 of “The Teacher”. ~ http://butterflybiblestudies.com/the-teacher-day-7-part-1/

Jesus Teaches the Samaritan Woman

Eternal Life:  Jesus converted this woman by revealing her sin, and her need for Him.  He compared the water from Jacob’s well (the water that supplied her immediate, physical thirst) to His spring of living water….The eternal Spirit, which springs into everlasting life.  The living water, “expressing all of the highest and best which Christ is” (John 4:1-26)!  Jesus said to this woman, “true worshipers will worship the Father, in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks” (John 4:23).  Jesus revealed Himself, as the Messiah, to this woman (John 4:26).  See Day 8 of “The Teacher”. ~~~~~~~ ~~ http://butterflybiblestudies.com/the-teacher-day-8/

Jesus Teaches Those Who Challenge His Authority

To those who are challenging His Authority, Jesus presents them with His divine relationship with the Father (John 5:16-30).  Jesus confirms His equality with God, His Father.  He confirms that He is the giver of life, that His authority comes from God, that He is dependant upon God and that God, Himself, sent Him as the healer and giver of life.

Jesus Give Testimony About Himself, And Gives Sources To Support His Authority

  His sources are:

1.  God the Father (John 5:37; Matthew 3:16-17; Mark 1:9-11 and Luke 3:21-22)

 2.  Mosaic Law (John 5:46-47; Numbers 24:17)

3.  John the Baptist (John 5:33; 1:19 and 3:27-30)

 4.  Jesus Miracles (John 5:36; 2:11; 10:25; 14:11)

5.  Scripture (John 5:39-40; Isaiah 53:7; Luke 24-44)

For Today….Ponder upon all of this, with me, so that we might BELIEVE with all of our hearts.

Scripture To Ponder….1 Peter 3:15  “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect.”

Tomorrow…part 2 of Day 7…..What Can We Learn From Jesus Miracles (I have consulted my very wise “Hubby” on this one); The Disciple’s Belief ~~ What Jesus Is Teaching Them ~~ Revealing To Them; Putting It Together…….Then we will proceed through the Gospel of John
