The Frosting On The Cake
The last thing I want to share with you that I learned about the pit is this. It is the frosting on the cake; it is the best part; it makes everything sweeter; it is a Big Bonus! Last night my family celebrated my birthday with an evening out, at a local pizza restaurant. My niece, Erica, made my birthday cake. She’s makes great cakes. She made me an m&m cake (If you knew me, you would know that I really like m&m’s). It was so good. It would have been great without the frosting, but THAT INCH THICK CHOCOLATE FROSTING made it really sweet!
So, not only have I learned the previous 4 lessons. I have learned, or maybe I should say, I have been reminded of THE SWEETEST THING OF ALL!

You don’t have to Live In The Pit! Sometimes we can slip in so far that it feels like we’ll never get out. We can become so accustom to the pit, we think we can’t function outside of it, or we can’t (or we don’t want to) work up the energy to get out.
I have GREAT NEWS for YOU (and me)! On Day 4 you read Romans chapter 8. Let me just hi-light for you.
- There is NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus. vs 1
- We are not CONTROLLED by the sinful nature. vs 9
- The Spirit himself TESTIFIES with our spirit that WE ARE God’s children (Daughter’s of God). vs 16
- Our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that WILL be revealed to us. vs 18
- The Spirit HELPS us in our weakness. He INTERCEDES for us in accordance with God’s will. vs 26,27
I love point 5 above. The Spirit intercedes for us, in accordance with God’s will. That’s Great! I can use a lot of that! What about you?
-
We are MORE THAN CONQUERORS through Him who loved us, AND NOTHING CAN SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD! vs 37-39
Again, I say That’s Great! If all that doesn’t make us want to live life through the Spirit, what does?
How do we get out of the pit? Read Psalm 27. Fill in the blanks below for verse 4.
“One _________ I ask of ______ _________,
This is what ____ _________:
That I may _______ in the _______ of the Lord
All the ______ ____ ____ _____,
To gaze upon the _______ of the Lord
And to _____ _____ in his temple.” NIV
Read Luke 10:41-42. In your own words, write what you feel Jesus is telling Martha.
