Dis-Stressing Wisdom ~ Oh N0!
I meant to say Wisdom To De-Stress
In the process of zero-ing in on God’s plan and boundary for me, personally…
If there is something for certain in my life right now, it is the fact that the Lord is leading me to zero in on His plan and boundary for my life. He has created in me an almost uncontrollable passion for His word, the desire to place it (The Word) and Christian resources into the hands and hearts of those in need, sharing and giving from the depths of my heart, and the need for nurturing my relationships. If that sounds like a mouthful…it is! But along with these passions, I believe that God is stirring up the waters of my physical, mental and spiritual stress levels~so that I might truly know His plan in my life. I truly believe that my heart will be satisfied with the outcome, because the more mature (older…he he he) I get the more I realize that life is all about ETERNAL VALUE! It is all about the value and worth that I place on Jesus Christ. Self esteem is for self absorption~The worth of Christ is TO BE absorbed. Surely that should cause me to do a little, at the very least, prioritizing this only a vapor, of a life (see James 4:14).
I was talking with a friend the other evening. It’s really incredible when you have a friend who is basically on the same page you are. There seems to always be incredible empathy between the two of us, and my friends insight is always a lift me up blessing. And no, it’s not the blind leading the blind…it’s more like one’s insight leading to the other’s insight.
I think it’s fairly easy for most of us to understand that God gives us passion for His ministry in life, and that our purpose is to love Him (relationship) with every part of our being and, to love others (relationship) as He loves us and, to BE disciples and MAKE disciples (relationship). The trick is to narrow His ministry down to what He really wants us to do in order that He might be glorified. Imagine what life would be like if each of us ministered within God’s kingdom according to His will and not what makes us feel good. And, imagine what life would be like if Jesus was enough ~ Loving Him, sharing Him with others, and ministering to Him by meeting(serving) the true needs of others. Sometimes, we gotta do so much stuff to draw folks to Christ~what is the deal?
I received an email this morning from a woman who was passing along Max Lucado’s daily devotion of An Uncommon Call. The following is quoted fr0m Max Lucado.
“The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others.” 1 Corinthians 12:7
“You have one. A divine spark. An uncommon call to an uncommon life. The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others. So much for the excuse, I don’t have anything to offer. Did the apostle Paul say, The Spirit has given some of us…? Or, The Spirit has given a few of us…? No. The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others. Enough of this self-deprecating, I can’t do anything. And, enough of it’s arrogant opposite: I have to do everything. No, you don’t! You’re not God’s solution to society, but a solution in society. Imitate Paul, who said, Our goal is to stay within the boundaries of God’s plan for us (2 Corinthians 10:13). Clarify your contribution. Don’t worry about skills you do not have. Don’t covet strengths others do have. Just extract your uniqueness.”
If I were to glean any piece of wisdom from the above, it would be CLARIFY YOUR CONTRIBUTION.
1. What is that divine spark that the Lord has placed in your heart?____________________________________
2. Where are your boundaries?________________
3. When thinking about your boundaries, do not neglect the relationships in your life. You have no idea how much relationship neglect I have seen in the name of the Lord and/or the Church. Or, maybe you have.
One thing that my “hubby” always asks me…Okay, what are you going to give up to do this? He is a very wise man!
One more thing my “hubby” has taught me…It is best to do one thing well, than to do many things not well! How did he get so smart?
One more thing…remember, the next time you push that little button on the hairspray can, our lives are but a vapor! Let’s use the time wisely!
