“And the vessel that he made of clay was marred
in the hand of the potter:
so he made it again another vessel,
as seemed good to the potter to make it”.
Jeremiah 18:4 KJ
This is one of my favorite passages of scripture, because of what it means to me. After I became a Christian, even though I knew I was forgiven of my sins, I wrestled with the choices I had made in my life. I wrestled with the affect my choices had made on my children and my family. I could not understand how God could use me as I was, until one Sunday morning as I sat Sunday School. My Pastor was speaking to us from the 18th chapter of Jeremiah. I remember as Pastor Bob quoted verse 4, it was like I was understanding for the very first time that God could take me as I was and mold me into something good. As long as I was in His hand He could “make me again another vessel”. I find it so interesting that as I read and hear God’s Word, that it (the word) often puts forth a particular situation (a marred vessel) and in the next breath it (the word) remedys the situation. The revelation for me was that God knew I was broken, and if I placed myself in His hands, He would make me again in to someone who pleased Him.
The word “Marred” in Hebrew is “Shachath”. It means to decay, to destroy or to ruin. That’s what sin does to us. The phrase “seemed good” in Hebrew is “Yashar”. It means to make straight, to declare right, even and tranquil. That’s what God can do with us, if we place ourselves in His hand. Yes, He can do this for me, and for you. I’m sure all of us can say what I am about to say. “If you knew where God has brought me from, you would know why I love Him so much”. As you meditate on His word today, thank Him for loving you so much for taking the time to make you into something that seems good to Him. AMEN!

Pam I enjoyed reading your website.
After reading your daily steps I was reminded of an article I read by Chuck Swindol about a dear friend of their’s who was diagnosed with cancer. She left a legacy of faith to her 13 grandchilden. She said “I’ll be waiting for you and I will see you when you get to heaven.
And before she passed away her parting words were “Change your focus today and set your affections on things above not on the things of earth.” Col. 3:2.” For the things which are seen are the temporal and the things which are unseen are eternal”. 2 Cor. 10:17.
