“To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose
under the heaven”.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
The Hebrew word for “Season” is “Zman”. It means appointed time or times. I can’t help but think of seasons or appointed times, because today is the first day of the “fall season 2009″. I can feel this change today, not only because the calendar points this out, but because of the feel in the air and the changing color of the landscape. Our lives are like the changing seasons. Many years ago my life season was to live carefree with no thought of eternity. A few years ago my life season was to raise my children, with still no thought of eternity. Not so few years ago my season began to change with thoughts of eternity and questions of God’s purpose in my life. Today my season is to live FOR eternity, concerned with our (Ed’s and mine) season of life. Today’s season is filled with 5 beautiful grand-children not yet concerned with eternity, because their little brains can’t process it yet. Today’s season is filled with children who are concerned with teaching my grand-children with thoughts of eternity and God’s purpose for their lives. What a beautiful thing God has created in the changing seasons of the calendar and in our lives. Ed and I really like to listen to Bluegrass music. There is a song by Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver that is titled “Eternity Has Two”. If you listen to the song, the actual words are “This Life Has Many Choices, Eternity Has Two”. Today, as you take in this first day of the “fall season 2009″, think about the season of life you are in and the choices you make. This Is The Lord’s Season. AMEN!
