Do You Have An Attitude? ~ Well, Yah!
What is ‘Attitude’? I believe that it has to do with whether or not we are, in general, positive or negative persons. You know, is your cup half full or is it half empty? I believe it has to do with our personalities and our experiences in life. There are many things that affect our attitudes. Even our beliefs affect our attitudes. Do we really believe in being kind and gentle, or do we even care about that? Attitude is how we handle life. How do we react to life? Do we activiely pre-think situations? Are we quick to judge, or are we open to learning and understanding? These are all surface questions. As daughter’s (and son’s) of the one true King, our God, we need to see our ‘Attitudes’ in a much brighter light. We need to see our ‘Attitudes’ as ‘The Condition of Our Hearts’.
The Scripture says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23 KJ
This passage of Scripture tells us to carefully monitor our hearts, for out of our hearts come the very issues of life. An issue is something that comes from deep inside you. Our hearts are more than the organ that keeps us alive. Our hearts supply every deep down part of us with the life blood that sustains us. Our hearts, as Christians, should reflect our God and the mind of Christ (whose sustaining blood is our life). The condition, the attitude of our hearts determines the colors of our life.
Here are some other key passages of Scripture for you to ponder. Read them, and fill in the blanks.
Deuteronomy 4:29 & Jeremiah 29:13 “Seek the Lord with all your heart, ___ ___ ____ ____ ___.”
Romans 10:9 “Believe in your heart…and you will be ______.”
Matthew 12:34 ~ Jesus said, “…out of the abundance of the heart ___ _____ ______.”
Hebrews 4:12 “The Word of God is ______ and _____, … it judges the ________ and _________ of our ______.”
What is the 1st commandment (above all else) “Love the Lord thy God with all thy ______.” Mark 12:30
Thought to Ponder: Condition is key to our attitudes (of heart) which bring forth our actions, and the issues of life.
Merriam-Webster online dictionary says, “condition is a state of physical fitness or to ready for use”. I say that we are to “spiritually condition our hearts and ready them for use”.
