BE ~ Attitudes vs Emotions: Day 3

Notable Thoughts About Emotions

Something to remember about emotions is: There is always a “Cause” for your emotions.  Someone, or an event has caused the primary emotion.  Your emotions “Affect” you.  The ”Affect” you feel will “Effect” your life and/or others.   If someone hurts you, or you feel you were wronged, you may feel anger.  If you do not deal with that anger/hurt, it will affect you in many different ways.  It can affect you physically.  It can cause you to become judgemental or self centered (focused on yourself and your feelings).  You may become a ticking time ’bomb (volatile or explosive), or you may feel like a victim (which may cause you to go into attack mode).  The emotion of anger is like a toxic poison, and it will overflow into all areas of your life.  Sad to say, when it overflows, it will overflow in front of, or to anyone around you.

With all of that said, I have some good news for you!  Your emotions need not drive your heart.  Today, I am going to ask you to make one of the best decisions of your life.  Ask the Lord to prepare your heart to be filled with His ”Beatitudes” (the mind of Christ).  Ask Him to help you to become a right responder.  I know for a fact that He will grant your request.  He has transformed my life in this way.  There is miraculous power in His Word.  Prepare your heart to become fully open to His Word.  In Obedience, bring your thoughts, and responses in life, unto Christ.   Take the time right now to write down your requests, your petitions, to the Lord.

Here is a website that will give you information on “Emotions”.  Our emotions and how they affect us, really is very interesting.  To access the site, go to changingminds.org .  In the explanations column, click on emotions. You will see a list of several options to choose from.

Find Your Joy In The Lord, and He Will Transform You Into An Extraordinary Instrument To Resonate His Symphony! (quote by Pam)

I hope all of you took it to heart, when I said in Day 2:  Hopefully you will realize that there are some great happenings and/or people in your life that are ‘causing’ Joyful Emotions!  Look for them!  Some ’causes’ for my joyful emotions are my wonderful family (husband, grand-babes, my mom, my new great-niece, can’t forget my children ~ I have too many family members that bring me joy, to list), studying the Word and writing, springtime and sunshine, a kind word (makes my heart glad), and my grand-babes are giving their hearts to Jesus ~ 3 down and 2 to go.  Make your list, if you haven’t already!

“Nothing compares to joy, the Joy of the Lord…it is not an emotion, it is the supernatural presence of the Lord in your very being.”  Quote by Lady Michaela

I suppose you could, very well, look at it that way.  Supernatural joy is “the supernatural presence of the Lord in your very being”, not merely an emotion.

Today, begin to focus on accepting the ‘Joy of the Lord’, no matter what emotions you are experiencing ~ those positive and/or negative.  James 1:2-4 tells us to “count it pure joy”, when we face many kinds of trials (which cause emotions)…because “testing our faith develops perseverance”, and “perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete”, and  “not lacking anything”.

Today, place yourself in the presence of the Lord.  Psalm 16:11 tells us that “we will be filled with joy in the presence of the Lord”.

Today, make the decision to stay connected to the Lord.  In John chapter 15, Jesus is teaching about “The Vine and The Branches“.  He says, (vs 11), “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete”.

Quote to Ponder: “The supernatural presence of the Lord is in your very being

Fill in the blanks.
Scripture to Ponder:  Psalm 71: 23 “My lips will shout for joy when ___  ____ _______ ___ _____.”
