The Events of Life ~ Uncertainties, Create Emotions Within Us
Yesterday, held three events ~ uncertainties which created emotion within me. These events were connected to my life through the lives of others. Two of these events involve illnesses, one a threat of the uncertainty of employment. Life can be so uncertain, and even sad sometimes. We weep and feel for others. Two things I am certain of: 1. Our emotions can take our eyes off the Lord, along with causing us to react in negative ways, not to mention, emotions can drain you. 2. The Lord is always there to tame our emotions and teach us how to react to them. There is always something or some event (joyful or sad), someone (a joy in our life, or thorn in our side), that brings on (cause) those continual emotions we all experience. Another thing I am certain of is that our reaction to our emotions (the way they affect us, and the way we choose to effect the world and those around us) is extremely important.
Cause ~ Emotion ~ Affect/Effect
I suppose these emotions (any of them) are not bad, but can bring on serious consequences, if we do not deal with them properly. Sad and sorrowful situations should cause us to turn to the Lord for peace, help and healing. Joyful times and times of plenty situations should cause us to turn to the Lord in gratefulness. Whatever the situation, we should continually, and purposefully be pro-active, in keeping our eyes on Jesus. I know, it’s difficult when your in the fire, or just living in a daily grind to survive. I also know that in times of plenty or joy, it’s easy to forget to thank the ONE we should have our eyes on. That’s why we have to be “Full of Purpose”, and “Believe and Know” the ONE (Jesus) we are looking at.
Holy Spirit, help us each morning when we wake up and each night before we fall asleep to look in the right direction. None of us know what tomorrow will bring, whether it be joyful, sorrowful, or un-eventful. Sometimes, I just want to say, “Lord, just make today sort of uneventful, please“! Our goal is to be able to say “Lord, whatever you make of today, I will find my joy in you. Help me to fill my heart with you. Tame my emotions and teach me how to react to my life and those around me“.
Thoughts and Questions to Ponder:
Emotions are reactions we have to life.
What we choose to do with our emotions is very important to our life (and those around us).
Do your emotions distract you from finding your “Joy in the Lord”?
