BE ~ Attitudes vs Emotions: Day 1

Introduction

Today, I woke up with two very clear questions on my heart.  Here they are…

Is My Heart Driven By My Emotions?

Or

Are My Emotions Driven By My Heart?

These are two very different questions.  The Word speaks many times of “The Attitudes” (or conditions) of our hearts (765 times ~ Old Testament and New Testament).  I looked this up one time, and have never forgotten it.  This should be a confirmation to us of the importance of “The Condition Of Our Hearts”.

Another thought I have had on my mind is, “If you want to live a satisfying, successful life…..know the will of God for your life”.  What does it mean, especially in light of “Be ~ Attitudes vs Emotions”?

I believe that to dig into the subject of ‘My Emotions’ vs ‘The Be ~ Attitudes of Jesus’, begins with the knowledge of what is first and foremost with God.  That is He wants me to know Him, to have a relationship with Him, and have like mind with Him.  That is the foundation of His will for me (and for you).  My emotions can be very non-satisfying and cause all sorts of non-success in my life (been there ~ done that..but hey, who hasn’t?).

Thought to Ponder:  I encourage you to think about my first two questions.  Is your heart driven by your emotions?  Or, are your emotions driven by your heart?  Keep these questions close to you as we go through this study.  They will become more meaningful to you.

Scripture to Ponder:  Philippians 2:5 “The ATTITUDE of your heart should be the same as that of Christ Jesus”  NIV…..this is part of that foundation, of the will of God, so that your life will be satisfying, successful…..and not EMOTIONALLY scattered.

you said, that the conditions of the heart were mentioned 765 times in the Bible, how did you find those, were they all found as “conditions of the heart”, from a concordance or did you use several words to find the reference??

Linda, I actually got this number from a Tim LaHaye book several years ago. If you will go to universitybible.org you will find that the number they use for how many times the condition of the heart is mentioned is 726 times. If you will contact me (use my contact page tab) with your email address, I will send you the pdf file for Conditions of The Heart by universitybible.org. And, I will email you my Be-Attitudes vs Emotions ebook if you would like it. As you read through God’s Word write down every instance that the Heart is mentioned. You will find that “Our Hearts Condition” is key to following Christ. God Bless! Pam
